President Edgar Lungu today issued direct instructions to Zesco to switch off power to KNC radio where featuring UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
The live program was supposed to start at 08:30 hrs but only started after 09:00hrs using a generator. Senior Zesco officials confirmed to the watchdog that the instructions were directly issued by state house yesterday soon after learning that Hichilema would be on radio.
And during the program Mr. Hichilema refuted allegations that he is scaring investors during his foreign trips. He said that while he has been attracting investment President Lungu is the one scaring investors because of his inconsistent leadership.
Hichilema also criticised Lungu for violence. He said if Lungu wanted to end the escalating political violence he would do so within a short time.
He cited the mining sector as one area where the tax regime has changed so often. He also said violence initiated by PF was also scaring investors.
And vice president Geoffrey Mwamba said that President Lungu had won the PF leadership by crook as lied that he was annointed by the late Sata.
Hichilema and his entourage will continue touring Kabwe meeting their members and spreading the campaign message to locals. He is in central province for the whole of this week.
