Lungu remains in USA as other leaders return

Almost all the world leaders that had travelled for the UN General Assembly to New York have returned to their countries leaving President Edgar Lungu with his large entourage that includes musicians alone in the US.

Lungu could even have been among the first ones to return home because he chartered an expensive private jet and does not need to make connections as would have been the case if he had used scheduled and cheaper commercial flights like most of the world leaders did owing to economic challenges.

Lungu’s chartered private jet is still taking him round other cities and incurring huge bills in US dollars in parking and other rights normally charged per hour.

But all these expenses mean nothing for Lungu despite delays in salaries for his soldiers, civil servants, University of Zambia academicians and other wings.
