Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Miles Sampa has resigned but president Edgar Lungu is said to be resisting the resignation.
It is not clear why Sampa is quitting but there are rumours that he will either form his own party of join UPND. The story about mobilising the party is empty.
It is believed that Sampa tendered in his resignation on Thursday but Lungu told him to think again.
But today Friday, Sampa told his inner circle that ‘not even a bulldozer will make me change my mind’.
People close to president Lungu says the president rejected the resignation as it will show vote of no confidence and will embarrass him.
‘The president therefore wants to make sure that he persuades him to stay then find a reason to fire him when the storm has calmed,’ said one of Lungu’s assistants.
