Lungu, Rupiah’ sons biggest maize smugglers

imageOimageutgoing President Edgar Lungu’s son Daliso Lungu who works’ for Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) as a Customs Officer and former President Rupiah Banda’s son Henry Banda are the key people in the smuggling of mealie meal to neighbouring countries, especially Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Zambian Watchdog can now reveal with indisputable evidence that the two are smuggling maize with former Katanga Governor Moses Katumbi to DRC.
Watchdog investigations revealed that the middleman in Zambia was is a Jerabo who lives in Chingola popularly known as Tom Tobela but his real names are Tom Chani.
This is the same thief who was involved in the Chani Fisheries scam with Katumbi that ended former president late Frederick Chiluba being arrested but Rupiah Banda intervened.
Investigations and documents in possession of the Zambian Watchdog indicate that the trucks that smuggle the maize bring in Copper from DRC and offload at Glencore warehouse in Ndola.
They are then loaded with Zambian maize enroute to DRC and the names of the trucks are Muzuri Sana and Habarikani which are all Katumbi’s trucks.
Apparently DRC does not allow any Zambian trucks to load Copper from that country apart from Congolese and Zimbabwean trucks Sabot.
All the customs officers at Kasumbalesa border post are aware of this scam but they have been threatened with dismissals by the Lungu government while others are being given money to keep quiet.
Katumbi has so far promised Edgar Lungu campaign money and that’s why he has been mute on the maize scam and shortages in Zambia as he is a direct beneficiary.
Lungu has so far alerted his son Daliso Lungu to get ready to flee the country when he loses elections in August and join his brother Henry Banda who is already outside the country as a fugitive.
Lungu has also told his son Daliso that he (Daliso) faces another arrest on the charge of getting money on false pretences as he is on ZRA payroll but has never worked since his father became president.
When Lungu became president he transferred his son from Nakonde border where he was a mere customs officer and promoted him to Lusaka but He has never reported for work yet he is still on payroll.
Zambia has been facing serious maize shortages leading  to the an increase in mealie meal prices.
