Those accusing government of gassing citizens deserve time in a mental asylum, President Lungu.
.President Edgar Lungu has expressed disappointment that some politicians are accusing government of gassing its citizens in order to bring confusion in the country.
He says those accusing government of being behind the gassing of its citizens are patients who deserve time in a mental asylum.
The President told Smart Eagles after officiating at the 2020 Zambia Defence Force International Day of Military Sports (CISM DAY RUN) at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka, today Tuesday held under the theme, ‘Friendship, Peace and Solidarity Through Sports’.
“How can government do such kind of a thing, If they have evidence of any government official involved let them report the matter to the police,” he said.
And speaking at the same event, President Lungu said the gassing of innocent citizens by criminals is very un-Zambian as its people are known to be peaceful and law abiding.
He has warned criminals going around gassing people’s homes that their days were numbered.
“My government is not giving a blind eye to such acts and vices. We have since scaled up measures aimed at ensuring perpetrators of violence face the wrath of the law. We will not allow our society to degenerate into lawlessness,” he said.
The Head of State advised Zambians to desist from descending on innocent people suspected to be behind the alleged gassing and allow the law enforcement officers to take charge.
“Let’s learn to value human life and property. Alot of innocent citizens have lost their lives because people have lost value for life. I urge you, to individually, and collectively, inculcate values that respect and treasure life in our society. Every person has the right to life, and no one should take the life of a another regardless of the level of provocation”, he said.
