Lungu says USA can withdraw its aid if it so wishes

Zambia’s president has told Sky News his government will officially complain to the United States over remarks its ambassador made after a homosexual couple were jailed for 15 years.

Japhet Chataba and Steven Samba were sentenced in the capital, Lusaka, by a high court judge on Wednesday for “crimes against the order of nature” – Zambia’s legal term for gay sex.

Responding to the decision, the US ambassador to Zambia, Daniel Foote, said in a statement: “I was personally horrified to read about the sentencing of two men, who had a consensual relationship, which hurt absolutely no one.”

In an exclusive interview with Sky’s special correspondent Alex Crawford, Zambian President Edgar Lungu warned of a breakdown in relations between Zambia and the US unless President Donald Trump took action.

He also insisted that nothing would change his mind on homosexuality.

He said: “We are saying no to homosexuality. Why should we say we are going to be civilised if we allow it… are you saying that we’re very primitive now because we’re frowning on homosexuality?

“Even animals don’t do it, so why should we be forced to do it?… because we want to be seen to be smart, civilised and advanced and so on.”

Why LUNGU’S emphasis be on the gay part of Foote’s sentiments leaving out the pertinent issues concerning the PF government’s corruption and bad governance? If Lungu is honest, which I doubt, let him respond to the other issues raised by Foote. And while he is at it let him tell the nation what ordinary poor Zambians will lose if the USA withdrew aid to Zambia. Chagwa be realistic and don’t play with people’s lives.

    ANAL EXPERT 6 days ago

Do you people know the humiliation which gay people are subjected to at the hospital to prove that indeed they had anal penetrating sex, because at the police station these gay people refused that they had had anal sexual intercourse. So at the hospital an M20 rubber penis will be inserted into their asses and if the M20 round rubber penis slides inside the ass easily then the medical experts will conclude that elastic anal muscles have been defiled. It s the medical report showing the tempering of your elastic anal muscles that will have you convicted.

The reporter is stupid. How can she say “……Zambia as one of the most dangerous countries in Africa to be in…..” – the Law is clear and gay people come in and out everyday in Zambia. However, anyone caught will be jailed according to the Law.

PF government should not read between lines and bring in homosexuality as a smoke screen in attacking America. We know homosexuality is satanism which should not be torelated in zambia. Let ecl deal with alledged corruption and plunder in his government which is known to have crippled the economy before American squeezes us further

I wonder if this could lead to the downfall of PF and Lungu. Interesting how small events could change history.

This U.S. Ambassador is not clever. He is now diverting attention from the many ills of PF  and this joker president. He has activated all the dormant PF vuvuzelas.

Like his German counterpart and the British High Commissioner who left, he should have talked about corruption, forest 27 and Chishimba Kambwili’s allegations that the presidential jet was being used by Valden Findlay to smuggle cocaine to the U.S. which is more serious given the drug kills lots of Americans through overdoses.

Homosexuality and gay rights will never fly. They tried in Uganda and failed. The same applies to Zimbabwe where it actually strengthened Mugabe.

Besides the U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is a Born Again Christian who is also opposed to homosexuality unlike Obama who funded Andrew Ntewewe’s YALI.

    Flashback:

Rodger Chongwe and Fred M’membe tried to push gay rights in the 1990s but failed. M’membe was even re-publishing stories in his defunct newspaper from a named American pornographic magazine. This is why he was accused of being gay by among others the late Michael Sata.

Nyambe the Hero – You are correct: the homosexuality issue will not fly here. Besides, the Judge sentenced the culprits to the minimum term according to the Law. So, the Ambassador should not dwell on the sentence but on corruption and the lack of respect from the leadership towards him. He should push for all government officials involved in corruption to face the Law squarely like the homosexuals did. Fortunately, the current American leadership is Conservative and are not fans of gay behaviour even if it is legal there.

A law or justice system which condemns to 15 years in jail, 2 consenting male adults due to homosexual acts while failing to seriously address corruption undertaken by government and politically exposed individuals is indeed a wicked law in a christian nation.

The excessive reaction from PF government is indeed a tactic to divert attention from the serious cases of corruption and denying the opposition the freedom of assembly and expression using the draconian Public Order Act.
I would advise the opposition not to fall into the PF trap. PF government wants to use this case to force the opposition into openly supporting homosexual acts by defending what the American Ambassador has rightly identified as an injustice in the way minorities are subjected to tough sentences when those in government and holding political positions are never punished for worse cases of corruption and mismanagement of public resources.
PF have tried to accuse HH and the opposition as being sponsored by organisations that support homosexuality and since this is not working, the PF now wants to attack the American Ambassador expecting to trap the opposition. This christian nation nonsense is limiting free speech and expressions from many Zambians. However I hope many voters will base their decision on who to vote for in 2021 based on real serious issues and not fake taboos!!

How I wish this report was specific in terms of what the President said. If I heard corret (Which I believe I did) he was actually lamenting when he said that ‘it was a pity that the issue of homesexuality is now being tied to aids, and then he said “if they want to leave us with ourpoverty over the same, but obviously we need assistance but we wont allow such things….”. I agree with him. No to homsexuality.

I think that corruption and theft by public workers to be more immoral and criminal compared to two adults who decide to engage in a sexual activity. I do do not support homosexuality and I do not like hypocrisy at the same time. Those who say American can withdraw their aid if they wish are thinking of how they would be affected as individual and not how the average Zambian would be affected.

Exorcise the demons of adultery and fornication, theft, lies and greed that affect Zambian society while you are it. Lock up PF thieves for 15+ years for all the money they have stolen and the decades of destruction to the economy that they have done.
PF is now trying to use this homosexual nonsense as a distraction from its immoral behavior. The American ambassador expressed his opinion, but what struck a nerve is that he called out the hypocrisy, since the real crimes and sins (by the way, also heavily mentioned in the same bible) that people turn a blind eye to: blatant theft of the nation’s resources by its government.

Please let us focus our effort on important issues. PF are trying to devert our attention from serious national issues. Corruption is rife. Those corrupt chaps need to be sentenced to 15 years imprisonment because they are infringing on the other people´s rights. Without any doubt sentencing someone to 15 years inprisonment is injustice. Whose rights are affected by gays. Yet corrupt chaps are denying people of medicine in hospitals.

Zambia has values and cultures, and one of them is a big no to homosexuality. Homosexuality is a taboo and unheard and shall never be entertained in Zambia. Zambia is a Christian nation and sex against the order of nature is criminal and punishable by a sentence of maximum 15 years. Just like in the middle east, eating pork is a crime punishable by 15years and also consuming alcohol is also 15 years that side in middle east. My appeal to homosexuals in Zambia is that they should relocate to the USA where they will freely enjoy anal sex. Here in Zambia such foolishness will never be tolerated. They should seek help from the ministry of religious affairs so that demons can be exorcised from them which makes them admire fellow men instead of women. surely the way God created a woman with nice breasts, curved hips, soft bums and skin, and you just decide to love a fellow man with hardened muscles? Jesus Christ!!!!!

Is it OK that anal sex is legal for heterosexual couples but not for homosexual couples? Aren’t they both against natural order?
