Lungu scheming to postpone elections

Outgoing President Edgar Lungu is now considering suspending campaigns as he is unable to mount a robust campaign programme due to illness but wants to claim it’s due to political violence.
Insiders say Lungu has been told to slow down on work including campaigns and has since cancelled and a number of campaign programmes.
But while he does that, he has sponsored thuggery in the country and now wants the Electoral Commission of Zambia to suspend campaigns which has seen his competitors in the UPND mounting a relentless campaign with massive crowds everywhere.
Yesterday, Lungu held a meeting with ECZ officials who he directed to issue the statement that they will suspend campaigns if violence continues, yet it is the PF that are perpetrating violence in the country.
Later he held a meeting with service chiefs with a view to implement his decree to stop campaigns and today he having meetings with all police commissioners at State House who he wants to direct to suspend campaigns as he is not well.
Last week, Lungu missed campaign appearances in Kabwata, Kabwe, and Ndola which were all addressed by party officials.
According to the campaign programme seen by the Zambian Watchdog, Lungu was supposed to be in Mongu and Kasama this weekend but so far he has missed the Kasama rally and is unlikely to travel to Mongu.
