Having experienced the luxury of private jets, president Edgar Lungu is now planning to purchase a G5 presidential jet . Sources at Cabinet Office and Ministry of Finance have confirmired that plans are underfoot to purchase the luxury G5 jet when government launches Zambia Airways.
This comes at a time of serious economic crisis and huge debts. Instead of cutting costs and reducing unnecessary expenditure the Lungu administration seems oblivious to the realty of the current economic crisis. The G5 jet can cost between $35 million image image imageto $55 million depending on the size of engines and how the interiors are customized. The pilots can cost upto $15,000 per flight and can cost over $2,000an hour.
This extraordinary extravagance is unprecedented in the history of Zambia.
