Chanda Kabwe, the Kitwe district commissioner who is distributing money to vendors and marketeers country wide has confirmed the Watchdog story of PF cadres selling the application forms.
He said that police has been placed on alert to arrest the conmen and warned that the fund was not being distributed through PF structures.
And contrary to the claimed amounts, Kabwe says that in the last three months, only K2m has been disbursed to 3,000 beneficiaries on the Copperbelt and Kasama (average K600 to K700 each).
Kabwe has made the disclosure in a press statement dated 1st March 2016 and adds that in the next three months Eastern, Luapula, Muchinga and Northern Provinces are expected to receive their share. But last month Kabwe said central province vendors will be the next to receive.
However some sources close to the fund have said that the initiative is a conduit pipe to symphony money from state coffers into PF campaign fund and challenged Kabwe to produce the names of beneficiaries.
“All these figures are just a hoax because only a handful are accessing this money. These thieves are getting money from government and divert it to PF campaign fund, if he is genuine I challenge him to produce a list of the beneficiaries instead of giving overblown figures,” said the source.
