Lungu’s lawyers run out of excuses

As time catches up with them

Edgar Chagwa’s Lungu’s lawyers have no more tricks to play but to respond to Hakainde Hichilema’s Lawyers that” President elect ” Edgar Chagwa Lungu should vacate office and pave way for speaker Patrick Matibini to act as President before the Presidential Petition starts.

And as can be seen in the letter from Matibini’s office, the petition and accompanying court documents have all rightly been served and acknowledge that Matibini must assume office.

Yesterday the petition for the president elect to vacate office couldn’t take off because the 1st respondent (Edgar Lungu’s lawyer ) Eric Silwamba advised the court that he had not received instruction from his client (Edgar Lungu).

On Monday, Eric Silwamba in his usual style refused to accept service from the UPND lawyers.

After being pushed in the corner yesterday, Silwamba requested for 2 days in which to file an answer to the application for the president elect to vacate office.

Eric Silwamba claimed he recieved the instruction from his embattled client Edgar Lungu yesterday.

Legal counsels for the National Assembly representing speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini were present in court.

Meanwhile, sources from Edgar Lungu’s lawyers have disclosed that an application was served on the law firm for Lungu’s lawyer Eric Silwamba but he refused to accept.

Finally time has caught up and the application for “president elect “Edgar Chagwa Lungu to vacate office will therefore come up tommorow to status conference in the morning.

This morning there is an application coming up to make additional witnesses to the main petition.

And later in the afternoon at 14.30 hrs, today, ruling on the matter which was heard on Monday on the custody and preservation of election materials will be delivered.image
