Patriotic Front thugs from Lusaka Inter City Bus Terminus who were ferried to beat up opponents in Mongu during a rally addressed by PF Presidential candidate Edgar Lungu have complained of non – payment.
Speaking on behalf of the group this morning during a phone in programme on Millennium Radio Station, Andrew Chilufya complained that the PF bussed them to Edgar Lungu’s rally in Mongu and promised to pay them but the officials were now proving elusive.
The PF thugs while in mongu beat up Muvi TV reporter, Liyod Kapusa, a local taxi driver and some local people. Kapusa was beaten for filming multitudes of mongu residents who were flashing UPND symbol while others placed bottles of beer on the road side and shouted “chakolwa” (drunkard) as they welcomed Lungu.
Acting President Dr Guy Scott has said the thuggish behaviour by Edgar Lungu’s cadres will not force people into voting for the PF next month.
“It’s outrageous and the fact is that it looks to be the same people from Lusaka who are going to all these rallies causing the same incident. … Driving a bunch of chaps from one part of the country to another, in a mini bus, is a waste of money… because they don’t even add a vote”, Dr Scot is quoted as saying in today’s Post Newspaper.
Lungu’s thugs, calling themselves 100% PF special force, yesterday harrassed Post photo journalist David Kashiki during the mandevu rally.
Last week, PF thugs attacked three citizens who were wearing UPND T- shits at the Lusaka Intercity Bus Terminus. 15 of them were only arrested several days after Dr . Scott complained about lack of action against the PF criminals by the police.
Yesterday Dr Scott said: ” Zambia has very good, sophisticated voters. So, I don’t think thuggish behaviour is going to get anybody to vote for PF “
