A 33 year old man of Lusaka’s Meanwood area Peter Siwale has been arrested by police after he allegedly shot dead his wife Charity Namuko aged 30 and her suspected lover identified as Andrew Chibesa aged 27 years. The gruesome murder of the two who are both teachers in Lusaka was done in the presence of Siwale’s children using a Pump action shot gun.
According to a statement by police public relations officer Esther Mwaata Katongo, Siwale who works as a clearing agent in Nakonde suspected the two to be having an affair and on Thursday he used a friend’s vehicle to trail his wife and her lover in Meanwood where he found them in a romantic state. Thereafter he picked both of them and drove them to his home where he shot them in the presence of his children around 18:00hrs yesterday.
After committing the murder, Siwale went to a neighbour with his children and requested that he be taken to the police station upon which he was arrested and detained while the bodies of the two are in the University Teaching Hospital – UTH Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial. The gun has since been recovered with three empty cartridges from the scene.
Charity sustained an injury on the right shoulder and right side of the chest while Andrew sustained a wound on the left side of the chest.
Last week another teacher in Esatern province beheaded his wife, a nurse after she was suspected of having an affair with a workmate doctor in Kasama.
