Lusaka Sewerage company to start rationing water due to lack of electricity

Due to the continued lack of electricity in the country, the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) says it will soon start rationing water.

LWSC managing director George Ndongwe revealed on a radio programme last evening that LWSC has also been negatively affected by power failures.

lwsc2Ndogwe explained that water utility companies need electricity to pump water to homesteads and industries, and that with the current power blackouts; it is becoming impossible to pump water.

Zesco has already ordered mining companies to reduce production and will reduce power supply to mines by a huge percentage.
