MMD Chilanga Member of Parliament Ngandu Magande says he is waiting for the party to set the agenda and date for the convention so that he and others can start campaigning.
Magande was quoted by Hot Fm radio saying he hasn’t yet started campaigning for any position in the MMD as he does not know what the agenda of the convention would be.
He said people interested in contesting for various positions can only start campaigning if they know which positions would be open.
He urged the Party to set the date and circulate the agenda fast so that interested candidates can have enough time to prepare.
Magande, a former minister of finance in the Levy Mwanawasa regime, was defeated by current MMD acting president Rupiah Banda to replace Mwanawasa.
He has not renounced his intentions to vie for the MMD and therefore republican presidency.
MMD deputy national secretary Jeff Kaande last week announced that the MMD National Executive Committee will in January 2010 set the date for the national convention.
