By Lloyd Himaambo-The Drug Enforcement Commission DEC has arrested a 27 year old man of Kapiri Mposhi for allegedly attempting to steal drugs that were being used as exhibits in the courts of law.

Brian Banda a resident of Kawama Township in Kapiri Mposhi was arrested on Tuesday night when he broke into the room where the drug exhibits were being kept.

DEC Public Relations Officer John Nyawali says that the suspect has since been charged for theft and drug trafficking.

Meanwhile, the commission has in the last few days arrested over 25 Zambians country wide for trafficking in different quantities of cannabis.

Mr. Nyawali said in central Province, the Commission has arrested 5 people for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.

In separate incidence, the Commission also arrested 14 people in different provinces in connection with drug trafficking.

The Commission has realized that there are so many clients who are unable to report drug and money laundering cases to the commission in person.

He disclosed that the Commission will soon open a toll free line for the public to report suspected drug trafficking and money laundering cases in the country.
