Today I had the privilege of welcoming to our party 950 Ambassadors of Change, as we call them in UPND, said UPND vice-president Geoffrey Mwamba (GBM) who is leading mobilisation tour of Luapula province.

‘As we have constantly maintained, there is no stronghold for the PF anymore. People are tired of the Poverty that the PF has subjected us to and unfortunately, poverty knows no stronghold.
‘I hereby urge the new 950 comrades to feel at home, this is their party! Go out there and bring many more others’, he said.

Later, GBM wrote that:

After a gruesome and successful mobilisation tour of most parts of Luapula province, the team and I decided to take a stroll on the Luapula( Mukuku) bridge commonly known as Tuta that was in commissioned by Dr Kaunda in 1983.

The workmanship of this Bridge is top class and the view of the surrounding area and landscape spectacular.

This is a true reflection of successful government to government cooperation, unlike the current infrastructure developments going on, that has sub standard works due to the corruption that has manifested in the procurement of these works, particularly in road construction.

The evil transactions between elements and senior government officials has cost the treasury immensely and benefitted a few and a political party to prop up their election bids, thereby, allowing the contractors to cut on costs or inflate the cost of these projects.

In an earlier posting, I did allude to the fact of the enormous tourism potential of Luapula that has been ignored and wish to assure that we as UPND shall embark on making tourism a major earner of foreign exchange by putting into place measures and policies and not rhetoric.

The whole sector need a massive overhaul and strategies,as well as, practical solutions rather than the political rhetoric and the non effective agencies responsible for this sector.
