Magistrate presiding Musamba’s case promoted

The Lusaka Magistrate handling the case of disgraced Northwestern Province Minister Stephen Masumba has been promoted.

According to the Zambian Watchdog investigations, Magistrate Wilfred Muma has been promoted to Director of Local Courts and will be based at the High Court.

Mr. Muma was promoted late last year and currently just winding up the cases he is presiding over.

A senior source within the Judiciary has confirmed the development saying Magistrate Muma has taken over from a Mr. Chibwe who has retired. Masumba is charged with obtaining pecunary advantage through false pretences.

It is alleged that Masumba between December 2005 and August 2008 in Lusaka used fake documents to obtain a job as an accounting clerk at Lusaka Business and technical College.

Magistrate Muma yesterday set February 14,2013 as date for ruling whether the morally banckrupt Deputy Minister has a case to answer or not.
