The Zambian ambassador to Angola, Marina Nsingo, Monday here commended the Angolan people’s recognition of the support given by the Zambian authorities during the national liberation struggle.
Speaking to ANGOP in light of the 35th anniversary of national independence, to be marked on November 11, the Zambian diplomat said that she feels delighted with the Angolan people’s recognition of what Zambia has done to support the national liberation struggle against Portuguese domination.
She said that for those struggling against a colonial power, any material, logistical or moral assistance was very important, and Zambia has played an important role by granting this support to Angola.
The forces of the ruling MPLA party who operated at the time in eastern Angola, had their military bases in the Zambian territory.
