Some senior members of the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) are not happy with Tourism and Arts Minister Silvia Masebo’s remarks that there was a “Devil” in the Patriotic Front.
Meanwhile, another wrangle is brewing in the Patriotic Front because some senior officials are against appealing against the Lusaka High Court order that the three former opposition MP’s can go ahead and file nomination papers.
The members say Masebo who was reported by the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation as saying the devil was influencing the President Sata 2016 adoption talk was not being sincere.
The PF leaders who asked for their names to be withheld for now said in literal meaning, Masebo is saying President Sata who has not said anything on the talks was the Devil.
“How can she say the devil was influencing the talks? What if the talks have the blessings of President Sata? So she implies that Sata is the devil. She is very indiscipline. She should just say she belongs to the Wynter Kabimba group,” one unhappy PF senior official said.
On Kabimba’s intentions to appeal, a senior PF member has told the Zambian Watchdog that there are people who feel that the appeal will diminish even the little chances PF had of winning the forthcoming by-elections as voters will think PF is scared.
The group against the idea has reservations because it finds no basis because the PF was not joined to the court process.
The group also wonders how Kabimba can talk about appealing the High Court decision when the Attorney General has been very clear in his submissions.
“They are saying the chances of a successful appeal are very slim, because of the submissions the Attorney General filed. Secondly they are saying in what capacity will Kabimba appeal because the court refused PF a joinder. PF is not a party to the proceedings,” the source said.
