EDGAR Lungu has invited Chongwe member of parliament Sylvia Masebo to join presidential candidates who will undergo medical examinations.
And Masebo says: “I will be waiting for him to pick me up so that we go together. I am ready.” Masebo recently accused Lungu of being sick and a drunkard who should not be allowed to be Republican President. But Lungu, who has challenged his political opponents to take medical tests with him, said Masebo should also be examined. Addressing a campaign rally at Mpika’s new modern market under construction, Lungu said both Masebo and himself should go for medical tests for the nation to know who was sick between them. Lungu said he and Masebo should go for medical examinations. “Sylvia Masebo ‘nakwelela, lelo nshakalabe. Ndefwaya tukaye bonse kucipimo tukamone uwalwala paliifwe babili’ (Sylvia Masebo, I have forgiven you, but I won’t forget. I want you and me to go for medical tests to see who, between us, is sick),” he said. Lungu further challenged Masebo to join him for a mental examination at Chainama hospital to examine their mental abilities so that the nation knows which of them is mentally sick.
And reacting to Lungu’s challenge, Masebo said she is seriously waiting for Lungu to pic
k her up for medical examinations at the University Teaching Hospital. “He is very welcome, I will be waiting for him to pick me up so that we go together and I hope it will be UTH. Any time, even tomorrow, I’m ready; most obliged and seriously so for that matter, not joking, not politicking,” she said. Masebo also boasted of being a political heavyweight. “Edgar said I’m a non-issue, so how come now he has made me a big issue? It means I’m not a non-issue. I must be a heavyweight also, if I may use GBM’s term. When somebody says you are a non-issue, they are not supposed to be responding, they should ignore me,” she said. “But I’m also told even today (yesterday), Nkandu Luo has been sent into my constituency to go there and insult me, and they are sending different people, and what is interesting is that the people of Chongwe are rejecting them.” Masebo added that with or without her, PF would lose in Chongwe “unless they rig but if it’s a straightforward election, they cannot; so they are just wasting their time.”
