Widow of late president Levy Mwanawasa is among the delegation of president Rupiah Banda in Kampala, Uganda.
Maureen Mwanawasa’ role in the SMART partnership meeting is not clear but the Watchdog has been informed that government is meeting her bills.
Mrs Mwanawasa was among the group of government representatives that was taken on a conducted tour on the sidelines of the conference Sunday evenning.
Among the stand visited include those exhibiting new farming technology,paintings and other artistic collections.
Meanwhile, the first ladies of presidents attending the conference had a closed door meeting in which they discussed ways of how they can contribute towards promoting regional integration.
This is the second time Mrs Mwanawasa has followed president Banda on his regional tour. The first one was a few months ago in South Africa.
The other week she found herself meeting King Mswati of Swaziland at Intercontinenatl hotel just before the king was due to go in for a State Banquet with President Banda. It is still not clear what she told the King but some security personell whispered that it was a lapse in security as King Mswati was unprepared for the visit.
