Mayuka joins Egyptian side Zamalek

Chipolopolo striker Emmanuel Mayuka has joined Egyptian outfit Zamalek on a three and a half year contract from French side FC Metz, both clubs confirmed on Friday.
Zamalek announced via the club’s official Facebook page that Mayuka had signed a three and a half years contract while Metz said via their website that Mayuka had left six months into his three year contract to join the Egyptian side.
“Zamalek SC signs Emmanuel Mayuka from Metz on a 3.5 years contract,” read the update posted on Friday evening.
Mayuka joined French second-division side Metz in August from English Premier League outfit Southampton where he spent three seasons with a loan spell in 2013-14 at Sochaux.
Previously, Mayuka played for Kabwe Warriors, Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) and Young Boys (Switzerland).
Mayuka won the top scorer’s award after scoring three goals when Zambia won the African Cup of Nations in 2012, the first Zambian player to do so since current Faz president Kalusha Bwalya won the award in 1996.
Mayuka is not listed on Zamalek’s 23-man squad which has been registered for the 2016 Caf Champions League.
