Mr. Mwaliteta abused his powers and assaulted the Mazabuka parliamentarian in full view of the police at Livingstone police station when he went to report that the UPND camp had been attacked by the PF cadres.
So far police have not taken Mr. Nkombo, who is detained for murder of PF cadre Henry Chanda, to the hospital for medical a report.
And Livingstone Magistrate Chola Musonda earlier today locked-up Livingstone Chief Inspector Nebert Chellamaumba in the court cells for failing to carry out a court order to issue murder suspect Mazabuka Member of Parliament (MP) Gary Nkombo with a medical report within 48 hours as ordered by the court last Friday.
Magistrate Musonda last week, ordered that Mr. Nkombo be issued with a medical report after his lawyers complained that their client was unwell after being assaulted by Minister Obvious Mwaliteta.
Magistrate Musonda said he expected police officers to take court orders seriously.
Meanwhile, magistrate Musonda has cited Tourism Minister Silvia Masebo and Mr. Mwaliteta for contempt following the statements they issued after a number of UPND leaders and members were arrested and charged for murder.
Magistrate Musonda has also ordered that police open a docket against Mr. Mwaliteta for assaulting the UPND lawmaker.
