Cheke Cha Mbunda National Chairman Ndandula Libingi making submissions
TO MSS: You say “the role of you Mbundas is advisory”, advisory to who? We defended you Lozis from annihilation from Kololos, Ilas, Luvales and Kaondes and now you say you are more important than your protectors! If it wasn’t for Mbundas you guys would have been wiped off the surface of this Earth by these groups. This is the biggest problem for us people from Western Province: patronizing. We tend to think that we are the only ones who are important on this planet. This is why our province is the poorest in Zambia – our attitude!
Let me educate you a bit: development comes from investors – both local and foreign. In today’s world, there is a critical shortage of investment capital hence many countries are chasing after it. Thus, it is only those countries which attract investors that will get this capital. Shoprite and Barclays Bank had a terrible time fighting to acquire land to build their businesses in Mongu because land, like everything else in WP,is tightly controlled by the BRE.I have also gotten terrible stories from my students who have undertaken academic research there in terms of how hard it is to obtain access to many things including data.In that type of environment, do you honestly think that an investor would bother to go through the hell Shoprite went through just to take their investment to WP? Forget it!You never find that kind of attitude in other provinces hence many investors in Lusaka or Copperbelt don’t even know who the chiefs in those areas are.We should not blame GRZ for the underdevelopment of WP but the Lozis themselves! I can assure you that even if you people succeed to secede Barotseland or whatever Godforsaken name you would give it, it will continue to wallow in poverty until there is a drastic change in both attitudes and paradigm. And the main cause of the disatisfaction in WP is the abject poverty and no sane person can dispute this fact. WP is the least developed province and the main cause of that are the Lozis themselves.
