Kasama has been hit by a critical shortage of mealie meal in spite of PF and President Edgar Lungu’s assurance that there would be no food shortages in the country.
By mid morning the commodity could only be found at Kasama milling and was expected to arrive at shoprite.
Kasama milling was characterised by long queues and panic buying among residents.
Last year, when warned against exporting maize to Zimbabwe, President Edgar Lungu lied that the country had sufficient maize stocks and that there would be no shortage.
Lungu’s lies were reiterated by agriculture minister Given Lubinda who last month said that the country has sufficient maize stocks until June when the harvest will be ready.
