ZAMBIA has recorded an outbreak of Measles, with Lusaka being the worst hit.
Director of Public Health and Research at the Ministry of Health Dr. Victor Mukonka says isolation facilities have since been set up at the University Teaching Hospital -UTH- and in Matero in Lusaka to treat patients suffering from the disease.
Dr. Mukonka told ZNBC news in an interview in Lusaka that government has budgeted 16 billion Kwacha for a countrywide Measles immunisation and Child Health week programme.
He said 10 billion Kwacha has so far been raised for the immunisation programme.
Dr. Mukonka has appealed to parents and guardians in the country to ensure that they take their children for immunisation at health facilities.
