Meeting with Zambian opposition is today, says EU delegation

The European Union Delegation to Zambia says the meeting with Zambia opposition leaders will take place today May, 8, 2012.

The Watchdog yesterday Monday reported that some opposition leaders met the EU delegation to raise concern over President Michael Sata’ suspension of three judges over a K14 billion debt that DPP Mutembo Nchito and his business partner Fred M’membe owe the Development Bank of Zambia.

But Aloys Lorkeers, Head of Political and Trade Section  at EU Delegation to  Zambia told the Watchdog this morning that yesterday’s meeting has been postponed to today.

Lorkeers declined to give more details.

‘However, from our side we do not intend to disclose any information about the content of the meeting,’ he said.

Parallel information obtained by the Watchdog shows that the opposition MMD, ULP and Heritage party will be joined by the UPND in the meeting with the EU.

The combined opposition have vowed to protect the constitution from Sata and this is just one of the activities they are undertaking.

The opposition, who have MPs in Parliament, have already called for the resignation of Mutembo Nchito saying he is unclean and not fit to head the office of DPP.

The genuine opposition leaders are said to be planning to meet all donors and stakeholders to show how the PF government is turning the country into a dictatorship controlled by a clique of the President’s friends.

But there are also individuals who are pretending to be in the opposition but working for the PF and are opposing the moves of the opposition.

According to the government controlled and funded Daily mail, those working against the opposition are Felix Mutati, who is supposed to be the leader of the opposition in the house dan Edith Nawakwi.

Though Mutati is still fighting to lead the MMD, he has been linked to the PF.
