Miles Sampa files nominations for PF presidency, challenges Edgar Lungu to prove his popularity

IMG-20141113-WA0000Commerce deputy minister Miles Sampa has officially announced that he will be contesting the PF presidency at the general conference and has charged that Edgar Lungu has no popularity.

Sampa who is said to be a nephew to the deceased President Michael Sata announced during a media briefing at Pamodzi hotel that he has filed his nominations to the Central Committee through acting president Guy Scott.

Sampa said at the launch that the PF constitution is clear that the party president will be elected at a general conference and not by a group of 40 people. He has since challenged Secretary general Lungu to prove his popularity by subjecting himself to a general conference. A week ago, this publication disclosed that Sampa, inspite of appearing to be in the GBM camp, had actuallybeen annointed by the Fred M’membe cartel.

Meanwhile, former Munali MP Mumbi Phiri says the PF will not accept ‘bloody’ money to fund the forthcoming by-election. She said that¬† the party should disclose how much it has so that its president is not held to ransom by people with ‘bloody’ money who will sponsor him. PF’s previous campaigns were mainly funded by Kasama MP Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM who is also one of the members interested in the PF presidency.

And Acting president Guy Scott has announced that the National Executive Committee will meet next week to look at logistics and practicalities of holding the convention.
