The Watchdog has been informed that the audit findings maybe swept under the carpert and never made public due to the findings which have have implicated government officials like Miles Sampa. Sampa is a nephew of president Michael Sata and is seeking to take over as Finance Minister.
The Auditor General (AG) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) are investigating plunder at Zambia railways during the short period that Clive Chirwa was at the helm and US$120 million, part of the Eurobond package was injected into the public company.
But investigators have found that Miles Sampa and other government officials were involved in the looting of the money and that is why Sampa has been panicking the past few days. A few days ago Sampa threatened to resign claiming that he was frustrated by people working against the PF agenda. He later wrote that he would not quit but fight from inside. What is he fighting?
The next day Sampa gave an email to Antony Mukwitwa of Daily Mail to publish his attacks on minisstry of Finance Permanent Secretary Felix Nkulukusa. Sampa wants the permanent Secretary at Finance ministry to be replaced by Emmanuel Mwamba who is currently in Western province.
But Sampa appears to be having problems with Finance Minister Alexander, also a very corrupt old man, who has been telling people that Sampa is childish and cannot be trusted with that ministry.
Somewhere during one of the family tree meetings, Sampa was informed that he would take over from Chikwanda after a year or so but Chikwanda now seems to be enjoying the office and unwilling to retire despite his old age.
But the probe at Zambia Railways is giving Sampa sleepless nights.
