Military refuse to clear oppositon campign helicopters

Party General Secretary Stephen Katuka has revealed that ZNBC has refused to broadcast paid adverts while ZAF has not cleared the campaign helicopters.
Katuka revealed this in a press release below :

It is becoming increasingly clear that our campaigns are being suffocated by various government wings.
In addition to ZNBC having refused to air our paid for political adverts, now the Zambia Air Force has not granted permission for our campaign helicopters to be active on 16th May 2016, despite us having applied well in advance and being in full compliance with all civil aviation requirements.
Police on the Copperbelt have also not given us the go ahead to hold our campaign launch in Kitwe and other places for the whole of next week.
We have complied with everything that should be done in accordance with the provisions of the law and the electoral code of conduct.
We know it’s not the fault of the public servants in these institutions but that politicians are behind these manoeuvres to try and derail and ground our campaign. Their desperation is clear.

Stephen Katuka
UPND Secretary General
