Millie meal prices to go up, Lungu only concerned about winning elections

The Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) has said it intends to increase mealie-meal prices following the increment of fuel prices coupled with increased ZESCO load shedding of electricity.

But President Edgar Lungu is meanwhile just concerned with winning next year’s elections and has said he is poised to win the 2016 polls.

MAZ president Allan Sakala said Tuesday it was necessary for millers to increase mealie-meal prices due to the tremendous increment of fuel prices which has negatively impacted on their cost of production.

Sakala said millers have further been affected by massive load shedding of electricity by ZESCO which has reduced production days from six to three days in a week.

He said the increments will depend on individual millers because they have their own costs of production.

President Edgar Lungu is meanwhile concerned with winning next year’s elections and has said he is poised to win the 2016 polls.

President Lungu told journalists at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport shortly before his departure to Livingstone that he is going to win next year’s elections and accused the opposition of opposing whatever he does.

He boasted that the PF will scoop the forth coming parliamentary by-elections in Bangweulu and Solwezi East including Kasama Central claiming he was aware that Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) was intending to cross to the opposition.
