Milupi appeals to Zambians to reject president Banda, poverty and corruption

Charles Milupi

Alliance for Development and Democracy (ADD) president Charles Milupi says Zambians should redeem themselves on the 20th September from the shackles of corruption and poverty by voting out President Rupiah Banda and the MMD government.
In an interview with the Watchdog, Milupi said it was unfortunate that those in the ruling party have always wanted to be seen to be working for the people during an election period a situation he said was a sign of lack of respect and responsibility towards electorates.
He said it was entirely upon the people of Zambia to make decisive decisions ahead of the election that would bring the necessary change of government by weeding out tired leaders and replace them with
fresh, credible and responsible ones.
“We in the ADD have come up with policies that will ensure that the people of Zambia are first in issues of governance, we want to empower our people, it is sadness me to see leaders working on roads during
election time, I have always asked them where have they been to start these works now, look no one is talking about working on drainages now that the rains have gone but when it is rain season that is when we see these people running up and down working on those things, that is poor leadership which we don’t want,” said Milupi.
He said the recent commissioning of roads and other developmental activities in various areas of the country should not be the bench mark to retain President Banda and the MMD into power because the
people in the MMD have failed to lead Zambia to prosperity.
Milupi said it was wrong for the MMD and its leaders to think that Zambians are only entitled to development during crucial periods such as elections.
“There is no way we should subject our people to such kind of treatment, the people of Zambia need proper roads, schools, health facilities, job and not only jobs but decent jobs, our people need
good social amenities not what the MMD has turned to be policy where they can only work on roads during an election year, they can only think of Zambians needing shelter during campaigns,” he said.
Milupi said it was high time Zambians undertook the revolutionary stance and approach in removing the MMD government from power because it has lost respect for the people.
“20th September should be a day that will mark the revolution of this country from corruption, failure and selfishness by electing credible but reachable leaders into office, we are not asking people to go on the streets no but to have our people know their leaders accordingly by putting them to task over issues of governance and human interest,” he said.
Milupi said he has given himself to Zambians for Presidency because he was a credible person to manage the affairs of the nation in a more consultative, decisive but transparent and accountable manner.
“We should not only seek office because we want that job ‘no’ we need to offer leadership which is people driven, I don’t need a job to go to state house and manage the affairs of the people, what we need is a person who will deliver though consultation,” he said.
He said the MMD leadership lacks responsibility and seriousness in the manner it handles issues of governance, constitutionalism and social development, adding that failure to have respect to the tenets ofdemocracy was a pure red card for the party in government.
