Minister Chilufya buys fake medicine for hospitals

Corrupt minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has put lives of thousands of patients in danger and has caused government to lose millions of US Dollars again through his dubious acquisition of medicine from questionable sources.

Huge bales of medicine which the Ministry of health purchased recently to treat serious bacterial infections is wrong and causing vomiting and severe headaches in patients across the country.

The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority has therefore ordered the ministry to withdraw the contaminated, fake medicine, (Gentamicin Sulphate) from all hospitals.

We understand minister Chilufya personally buys the medicines from his friends and gets cuts for giving business partners supply contracts.

It is not the first time that the ministry of health under Chilufya is wasting money on wrong or expired drugs.

The Auditor-General’s report revealed that the Ministry of Health procured expired ARVs and laboratory commodities in 2016

When he appeared before the parliamentary Committee in 2018, Health permanent secretary Kennedy Malama admitted that his Ministry bought medicine worth $10.5million (K60million) which expired upon arrival.
