The MMD has resolved to field a candidate in the Mufumbwe bye-election and has requested UPND not to.

MMD leader Nevers Mumba has told the Watchdog that: ‘the  Extra-Ordinary MMD NEC  meeting which met on September, 18th 2012 resolved to field a candidate in Mufumbwe Constituency  by-election to be held on 8th November, 2012.’

He said ‘we remain confident that our partners, the UPND and other opposition parties will support the opposition cause by not fielding their own candidates.’

The MMD leader said this will enhance the already good relations that exist amongst ourselves.

He explained that ‘our support for the UPND in both Chongwe and Livingstone is symbolic of MMD’s commitment to strengthening opposition bonds and co-operation’.

‘I know that the future holds great opportunities for the unity of the opposition’, Mumba said
