Speaking at a media briefing at the party secretariat in Lusaka this afternoon, Dr Chituwo said MMD is aware that more by elections are coming but that it will only participate when it is assured of fairness by the Electoral commission of Zambia (ECZ).
Dr. Chituwo has noted that MMD still remains a strong opposition party and is currently enjoying countrywide support.
He has also stated that there is need to motivate and encourage its members, following the resignation and appointment of some of its Members of Parliament as deputy Ministers.
The MMD Vice president has further urged members not to lose hope in the party adding that it is still re-organizing itself following the loss of power in 2011.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chituwo has called on government to urgently undertake a comprehensive assessment on the country’s current food security.
He has stressed the need for government to seriously pay attention to the food situation throughout the country.
Dr Chituwo who is also Mumbwa Member of Parliament explains that the floods and army worms had contributed negatively to some areas in his constituency as people had to start re- planting their crops at the wrong time.
He added that quick action by government to assess the food security will help reduce hunger after the harvest season.
