MMD southern province chairman accused of being UPND member

Edgar Keembe is a mercenary sent to destroy the ruling MMD in the Southern province, senior party officials have revealed to the Watchdog.
Senior party officials who spoke on condition of anonymity told the
Watchdog that keeping Keembe as provincial chairman for the MMD will have a negative impact to the MMD leadership and the party ahead ofthis year’s election.
The party officials said Keembe is still a UPND member and is in the
habit of conducting clandestine meetings with officials from the
opposition at his Southern Comfort Lodge in the night.
They said Keembe’s non active leadership style on various issues of
governance can be seen in the manner the visiting ministers have been
embarrassed in the province by both Chiefs and members of the public
during closed door and open meetings.
“At one of the meetings in Batoka and Sinazongwe we asked both Prof
Geoffrey Lungwangwa and Felix Mutati to inform President Rupiah Banda to assign someone to be his campaign manager in the province and not Keembe because of his behavior, this man (Keembe) is eating with bothhands,” said the source.
The officials revealed that allowing Keembe to continue campaigning
for President Banda would be disastrous because he doesn’t know how torelate to the media and other government officials including party
“We felt embarrassed the other day in the manner he commanded Monze District Commissioner Joyce Nonde Musokotwane and senior policeofficers, it was really shameful, there is no-way you can openly draw a line to which journalist you should talk to, that is very bad and
that is why we are saying that this man must be halted before things
goes sower,” said the source.
The officials accused Keembe of instructing some named youths not to
allow journalist working for private media institutions from attending
closed door meetings with traditional leaders visited.
“These boys are even calling him honourable, honourable for what and
where? These people should not even blame the media for the dying
popularity President Banda has created for himself, he imposed all
provincial chairmen on the people and he will pay for it in a hard
way,” said the officials.
