MMD to meet Catholic church, opposition parties

The Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) has written to the Catholic Church so that the two can meet and iron out issues as the Church plays an important role in developing nation.

MMD National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe said the ruling party has also written to the Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID) so that all political parties can meet and dialogue to resolve perceived differences among them.

Kachingwe noted that MMD is committed to giving Zambians free and fair elections and the meeting with the Church and opposition parties will help promote peace and tranquility in the country.

He further said the ruling party has started receiving application letters from aspiring candidates to stand during the forthcoming general elections.
