The United Party for National Development says there is no investor who would be willing to invest their money in developing the country under the current government even if the country has the capacity to implement the PPP Projects before the 2011 elections.
Responding to government’s intentions to undertake Public Private Partnership projects transcending across the various sectors of the economy using money from the private sector, UPND Secretary General Winstone Chibwe says the PPP project implementation cannot be possible under the MMD government.
Mr. Chibwe says the private sector would not be willing to work with the MMD government because it is corrupt.
And Mr. Chibwe has accused the MMD government of intercepting the policies of the UPND ahead of the 2011 elections.
He says there is nothing new Finance and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said when he announced government’s intentions to undertake PPP projects.
Mr. Chibwe says everything the minister said is contained in the UPND manifesto, adding the MMD government just wants to put on paper the projects so that when the PF/UPND pact implements them when it comes into power, they will say that the pact government is implementing what they started,
He says government has decided to talk about the construction of dual carriage ways on major roads and some other infrastructure because it has realized that the PF/UPND will make them the first priority.
