MMD, UPND willing to work together

The MMD and UPND have expressed willingness to work with other opposition political parties in the forthcoming elections.
This follows the proposal by ADD President Charles Milupi for the opposition parties to consider forming an alliance ahead of the August 11 elections.
MMD President Nevers Mumba says being part of an opposition alliance is part of the options on his party’s preparatory discussion table.
He however, says the decision as to whether the MMD should or should not be part of an alliance with another political party will be made by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
In an interview by telephone, Dr. Mumba has told Qfm News that the NEC will soon convene a meeting to discuss the matter.
He says the MMD is for the time being focused to strengthening its structures ahead of the general election.
Dr. Mumba states that he is happy with the progress that has been made so far in this regard.
And UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma has disclosed that his party is ready to work with any party during this year’s general election.
Mr. Kakoma says this is especially that the common goal this year is to remove the ruling PF from power.
