Mongu town clerk arrested for corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Mongu Municipal Council Town Clerk for one count of Abuse of Authority of Office.

He was arrested today but immediately given police bond. Some animals are more equal.

ACC spokesperson Timothy Moono disclosed that Enoch Kandingwa aged 49, of house number 997, Riverside in Choma District, between 1st January, 2008 and 31st December, 2008 did abuse his then office as Town Clerk of Choma Municipal Council by acquiring an unsurveyed piece of land for himself in Chandamali area in Choma without following laid down procedures.

Moono said Kandingwa was earlier this year transferred to Mongu in the same capacity as Town Clerk. He has since been released on Bond, and will appear in the Choma Magistrate Court on 3rd September, 2013.

‘The Commission would like to sternly warn public officers to desist from engaging in corrupt activities as they serve members of the public for needed national services,’ said Moono.
