More than 500 lose jobs at Kitwe’s Sandvik Mining

More than 500 workers of Sandvik Mining and Construction have lost their jobs today, 31 December 2015. What a way to end the year!

The PF government promised to create 500, 000 jobs by the end of today.

The Kitwe based mining supplier is one of the numerous companies that are collapsing due to mining companies failing to make profits and the failure by the PF government to support mines or protect jobs.

‘Right now 500 employees of Sandvik mining company in Kitwe receiving their terminal of employment letter,’ a source told the Watchdog.

Thousands of miners have lost jobs and were each given K20, 000 and the PF told them to start commercial farming when that money can hardly buy a plough.
