Forty-two more nurses from Kasama General Hospital have been dismissed. According to letters signed by Medical Superintendent Dr E. Mutoloki dated 15th December, 2013 the nurses have been dismissed effective from 2nd December.
The affected nurses were given dismissal letters today at a meeting called by the hospital management at 1500 hours. According to sources, the medical superintendent was “under pressure from Lusaka” and was called this week and threatened with dismissal if he did not write the dismissal letters. It is however unclear how the PF government will deal with the crisis bearing in mind that the hospital has been understaffed for a long time.
