Chief Mwamba whose real name is Henry Kanyanta Sosala who was degazetted by President Sata on 6th May 2013 as Senior Chief Mwamba has been appointed the new Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people.
The Bashi Lubemba who confirmed the development to Radio Mano shortly after the meeting today charged that the issue of degazetting Sosala is irrelevant to the establishment.
Washanga Impika Sha Lubemba who spoke on behalf of the Bashi Lubemba said the decision to appoint Henry Sosala as the now Chitimukulu was arrived at a meeting held at Chitimukulu local court in Mungwi.
On 6th May 2013, President Michael Sata ordered the media to stop quoting Henry Sosala as Senior Chief Mwamba of the Bemba people of Kasama.
Mr. Sata stated that he noted with displeasure and alarm at the manner Mr. Henry Sosala had continued to masquerade under the title of Senior Chief Mwamba.
He said it was not the intention of his administration to interfere in chief’s succession processes but would equally not stand idle and watch what he termed as the “deliberately” created confusion take root in the management of chiefs and traditional affairs.
But the Bemba Royal Establishment defied President Sata’s order and maintained that Henry Kanyanta Sosala was Senior Chief Mwamba of the Bemba speaking people of Kasama until today when he has been appointed as the Paramount Chief.
The Bashi Lubemba at a 3 hours meeting with Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba held at Chiti Mukulu local Court further asked President Sata to re-instate Mr Sosala as Senior Chief Mwamba.
