Government has hired students from a private college to operate UTH as nurses.
The PF regime fired about 300 nurses who were demanding better pay and corrections in their salary structures. Most hospitals have been running on skeleton staff thereby putting lives of citizens at stake. The number of people who would have died as a result of this action by government may never be known, at least not now.
Many people condemn government for firing nurses and more especially without putting proper alternative measures.
According to sources at UTH, the student nurses do not know what to do but they are administering medicines of patients even as you read this thereby putting lives of patients in danger.
The student nurses have been added on to cleaners who were given roles of nurses earlier. Collectively they are called ‘Hospital assistants’.
Meanwhile, ailing dictator Michael Sata who has refused to reason with nurses has forgiven more convicted prisoners (rapists, murderers, thieves etc..) as part of his Christmas gifts.
