More than five million register to vote

Latest figures at the Electoral Commission of Zambia show that about five million and two hundred thousand people have registered to vote this year.

Zambia has 6,434,272 eligible voters.

The figures seen by the Watchdog are up to 30th March 2011.
The Copperbelt province has recorded the highest number of voters at 869, 406. Lusaka province is following with 776, 866.
Northern Province has the third highest number of registered voters with 658,902, while Southern Province is fourth with   655, 380 voters.
Eastern Province has recorded 654, 204 while Central Province has 482, 571.  Luapula province has 409, 754.  North-Western province recorded 310, 398 while Western province recorded 389, 609
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has since ended the voter registration.
It also focuses on change of name, deletions following the death of a registered voter and amendments because of errors in personal details.
