Members of Parliament of the ruling Patriotic Front(PF) have joined opposition members of parliament of the United Party for National Development (UPND) in a motion to impeach president Edgar Lungu.

The motion has been brought on allegations that President Edgar Lungu has repeatedly breached provisions of the Constitution and has turned Cabinet into a procurement entity dishing out contracts such as the digital migration and sale of NRDC college and its land contrary to the law.

The motion has cited;
1. Breached the Constitution when he failed to handover power to the Speaker contrary to the provision of the Constitution shortly after the 2016 General elections when the UPND filed an electoral dispute in the Constitutional Court
2. That he has presided over Cabinet making illegal procurement decisions on the digital migration, sale of NRDC and others contrary to the provisions of the law as Cabinet is not a procuring entity in the laws of Zambia
