MP accuses govt of causing violence in Chongwe

Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) National Youth Chairperson Moses Muteteka has accused the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) of causing the violence that erupted in Chongwe during the filing in nominations for the November 23rd by elections.

Muteteka, who is also Chisamba Member of Parliament (MP), told the media that the PF has always been involved in every act of political violence contrary to reports that it was the MMD that incited violence.

He said it was sad to see the ruling party cadres in the forefront of violent attacks that tend to breach the electoral code of conduct.

Muteteka challenged the PF leadership to warn its members against participating in violent attacks during campaigns as such undermine the electoral process.

He also urged the government to ensure it fulfills its duty to protect the voters, who are the citizens so that at the end of the electoral process elections can be termed as free and fair.
