UPND’s Itezhi-tezhi MP Greyford Monde says there is a scramble for Southern province by the PF government.
Monde was speaking at Mobi TV’s ‘Meet Your MP’ programme on Tuesday evening.
Monde also said the moving of districts from one province to another will adversely affect local norms and customs.
Monde, one of the youngest MPs in the current national Assembly also said the moving of districts will disadvantage deprived provinces and communities economically.
During the dry season, pastoral farmers from Monze district shift their cattle to Itezhi Tezhi for greener pastures and water along the Kafue river.
Monde further explained that moving Itezhi Tezhi to Central province will make it difficult for local people to access the headquarters in Kabwe which is very far.
He said that the move will cause serious hardships in controlling cattle diseases.
Monde is the first vice-president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
