Former Defense Minister under the Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) George Mpombo has charged that the former ruling party is headed for collapse.
Mpombo, who resigned as minister, told Hot FM that MMD will soon experience a national crisis that will take time to address.
He noted that the future of the party is uncertain especially after MMD leader Rupiah Banda’s desire to resign from active politics, coupled with the loss of Mulobezi seat by MMD national chairperson Michael Mabenga.
Mpombo claimed that Banda’s dictatorial tendencies and getting advice from immature political players are the main reason for the party’s down fall.
Meanwhile, Mabenga said individuals leaving the MMD because of its loss are not genuine as they were only in the party for personal gain.
He described the resignation of former Luangeni Member of Parliament Angela Cifire and other members as a sad development.
Mabenga further disclosed that the current defections going on in the MMD are shocking and sad but will not affect the former ruling party in any way.
