The National Constitutional Conference (NCC) has resolved to increase the number of elected Members of Parliament to 240.
The Legislative and Democratic governance committees of the NCC Thursday afternoon unanimously agreed that some constituencies in the country are too vast to be overseen by one MP.
Currently there are 150 elected MPs and Eight nominated by the president.
This means that Zambia will now have 248 MPs.
On Wednesday, the NCC resolved that the National Assembly should have powers to dissolve itself.
